My Big Folder lives again
My big folder finally becomes reality.Last year I had the idea to make a big folder for the serious outdoor work .Earlier I canceled this project due the lack of time but after finishing several “stowaway folders” I couldn’t resist any longer. Now it get’s priority. It has to be strong, almost ” indestructible” and still easy to carry, compact in design but top in performance. I have been working with several bigger folders and I guess a handle about 4 inches long should be comfortable to use and carry. The blade flat ground about 3.5 inches long with a strong S-shape.
My first big folder will be a linerlock with carbonfiber scales,1.5mm titaniumliners and S30V blade.A big blade with 4mm thickness ??? I never tried this steel before,I never tried a blade 4mm thick.Tomorrow I post some pictures of the assembled folder.Maybe I make a few variations before really grinding the bevels and fitting the lock. The grip is enhanced by three hollow finger excisions while the top of the handle gets some curves. The weight should be about 110 grams or 3.8 ounces. Not a small edc but this knife won’t bother you either while carrying it on your belt, or in the pocket .
Below some pics of “my big folder”into the hands and compared to my favourite stowaway folder.Of course the knife isn’t finished yet,now it’s time for grinding and making the linerlock.
