grinder

I recently ordered contactwheels to make my own grinder.I have some idea to built a hybrid from the baldor and kmg grinder.I will make this in three steps.First the grinding platen with 50 and 75 mm contactwheels, second the metal frame with sliding arms and finally I change to motor by another new one which could also be used in vertical position. The grinder will general be used with 2000mm belts and a adjustable toolrest.

Most of the design is finished but could be changed at the drive pulley depending on the kind of motor. Most interesting should be a motor with electronic speed control but an extra drive shaft with step pulleys and flange bearings could reduce the costs. This grinder project will be a new tutorial.

Some time ago I planned to make my own anodizer to get those special colors on titanium . I gathered a lot of information about electronics , bookmarked interesting tutorials and also started a thread on a circuitsonline.com ( dutch ) . I really assembled all details about the electronic circuit common used on anodizers . However this project still runs I realized I would be better to invest some money in a good sandblasting unit . Altough anodizing titanium gives something extra to a folding knife I sure sandblasting gives more possibilities . With sandblasting I could also finish my blades , finish the G10 and color titanium liners , clean different small tools , treat the steel before coating .  So here is my mini sandblast cabinet . With a size about 290×250x210 mm is really small but still suited to sandblast the small knifeparts . The cabinet is featured with water trap , tungsten nozzles , 2 gloves , abrasive filter and a foot switch . Soon I will try this newbie and sandblast 2 homebuilt folding knives , the backup 3 and my arrow 2 framelock .
